Afterschool & Enrichment Services

Yancy enrichment instruction is facilitated by instruction specialists with extensive content knowledge and continuous support, as well as constructive evaluation from administrators. Based on building positive relationships between the instructors, students and peers our teacher to student ratio 1:16 for most enrichment activities. Our courses are performance or showcase driven, designed to meet the students at their learning level yet create a final product that can be seen and appreciated by the students, campus, and community. Yancy life uses several content specific instructional tools and materials for our enrichment program. Although not an exhaustive list, the following materials will be used in our afterschool programs: various sports athletic balls, cones, bats, speed ladders, soccer goals, mats, drum line instruments, photography cameras, notebook, arts/crafts supplies (paste, paints, various beads), science supplies (beakers & experiment kits), various sized paper/poster board, etiquette class supplies (dining items, skin care products, etc.), robotics kits, financial literacy material and various performance apparel. We focus on schools in areas of we focus on schools in areas of chronic poverty and high percentages of immigrants where parental involvement may be lacking for various reasons, children often have not developed social skills for functioning successfully in our society. To address this, yancy offers mentoring and etiquette sessions for boys and girls at all three levels. These include relationships with mentors with backgrounds similar to the students as role models, instruction in appearance and behaviors for success, and communication skills.
