A Yancy Life has provided tutorials, academic and enrichment programs for low performing schools and students for over 13 years, since incorporating as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 2003. We focus on community learning centers and in-school programs that provide academic and educational enrichment opportunities for children, particularly students who attend high-poverty and low performing schools in the Houston Independent School District. Although our expertise is in-school tutorials, we can provide our services before school, after school, and during all out of school time. Our mission is to encourage the development of academic excellence, life skills, creative arts, multi-media, and to promote higher education for all students, particularly for at-risk youth.

Tutorials & Test Preparation
Yancy Life offers rich face-‐to-‐face 1:1 and small group tutorial sessions supported by content driven lessons and assessments that are cohesively aligned to the standards in Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). Our instructors adapt their teaching methods to fit the needs of the students, teachers, campus and community. We offer high quality instructors with varied experience levels ranging from teaching certificate candidates to retired principals. English/Spanish bilingual instructors are available to service our bilingual populations.
Social and Emotional Learning
The primary focus of our Social and Emotional Learning sessions are to develop healthy relationships between students, teachers, administrators and other members of a school’s educational community. Our instructors teach effective skills that help participants develop self-‐managing classrooms and decrease discipline issues through innovative techniques while creating a safe, trusting learning environment. We use a comprehensive state approved curriculum that supports the participants in all aspects of educational achievement focusing on social, emotional and academic success.
A Yancy Life provides a proven, unique, and culturally rich approach to educational programming for families. We recognize that interest, encouragement, and cooperative efforts have a profound influence on the development of an individual’s happiness. Our engaging activities capture every student’s and parent’s creative, exploratory or academic minds, leading them to seek increased learning opportunities. Yancy supports participating schools by providing a selection of w workshops, trainings and literacy development which schools can choose for weekly presentations to parents and other caregivers. All programs can be offered in Spanish & English-‐
Yancy’s diverse non-‐academic offerings ensure something for every student’s interest. Services include but are not limited to chess, hands-‐on science, arts, photography, journalism and several choices for physical movement -‐ sports, dance, Step and Drum line. In order to build confidence, pride and to encourage regular attendance, Yancy works diligently to showcase its students’ talents. With community partners, we establish avenues for performance, competition and display within the schools and locally at festivals, businesses, professional meetings, and community events. Whether it is one service or a multi-‐service enrichment program, Yancy activities capture your students with hands-‐on engagement.
Campus Support Services
With academic pressures on teachers and administrators becoming heavier by the day, Yancy can step in to support campuses with all extra-‐curricular events. We We help campuses to create, organize, plan and execute successful events ranging from school dances, festivals, spring/fall concerts, gala events, parent appreciation events, staff appreciations events, award showcases, booster clubs and athletic leagues/events. Yancy event staff has broad flexibility and will customize any event to meet the needs of the campus and community.
